How Do I Install and Set Up Google Authenticator MFA for Gmail?
You will need your mobile device and passwords to your email as well as app store accounts.
- Install Google Authenticator from the App Store or Google Play.
- Launch Google Authenticator and follow the online prompts to set up your Gmail account:
- On your computer, log into your Gmail account.
- Click Settings (Gear icon) in the upper-right corner and click the Accounts and Import tab.
- In the Change Account Settings section at the top, click Other Google Account Settings.
- In the page that launches, click Sign-in & Security. The Sign-in & Security window displays.
- Enable two-step verification:
- In the Password & sign-in Method section, click 2-Step Verification.
- Follow the prompts on your computer and mobile device to get enabled.
- When the verification message pops up, click Turn On.
- Set Up the Authenticator App:
- In the 2-Step Verification window, under Authenticator App, click Set Up.
- Follow the prompts on your computer and mobile phone to get set up.
- When the Done verification message pops up, click Done.
