Troubleshooting: Webex
Can’t log into Webex or join a meeting
- Confirm that caps lock is OFF and that you're enter the correct username and password. If you can't recall your password, reset it.
- Check your Wi-Fi network strength. If it's weak, select a different network if one is available.
- Try using a different browser.
- Clear your browser cache and cookies related to Webex.
- Dial in by phone.
- If you’re experiencing any of the following server-related issues, contact IT for support:
- You hear a reorder tone before or after the complete number is dialed.
- You hear the "Your call cannot be completed as dialed" message.
- During call-back, you're disconnected after pressing 1 to join the meeting, or after entering the meeting ID followed by #.
How do I clear Webex cache and cookies from Google Chrome?
To clear ONLY Webex cookies
- Open a Google Chrome browser window and click More in the upper-right corner.
- Select Settings > Show Advanced Settings.
- In the Privacy section: Click Content Settings.
- In the Cookies section: Click All cookies and Site Data...
- In the Search cookies field: Enter "Webex.com" (without quotes).
- Click the X button to the right of the cookie you want to delete and click Done.
- In the Content settings window: Click Done.
- Close all browser windows and reopen Google Chrome for the changes to take effect. Then try to join the meeting.
To clear ALL cache and cookies
- Open a new Google Chrome browser window and click the Menu icon in the upper-right corner.
- Select History > History > Clear Browsing Data. A dialog prompt appears.
- Select the information that you want to remove.
- In the Time Range drop-down menu at the top of the window: Select data you want to delete and click Clear data.
- Close all browser windows, reopen Google Chrome for the changes to take effect. Then attempt to join the meeting.
Can't join a meeting from Microsoft Internet Explorer (v10 and 11)
If you can't join a meeting from IE, try clearing the cache and cookies:
- Open a new Internet Explorer browser window.
- Click the Tools icon in the upper-right corner of the window > Internet Options.
- In the Browsing History section, click Delete.
- Select Temporary Internet Files and Cookies.
- (Optional) If you've saved Webex as a favorite, de-select Preserve favorite website data.
- Click Delete.
- Close all IE browser windows. Then attempt to join the meeting.
Can't join a meeting from Mozilla Firefox (v67 and higher)
If you can't join a meeting from IE, try clearing the cache and cookies:
- Open a new Mozilla Firefox browser window.
- Click the Menu icon in the upper-right corner > Library > History > Clear Recent History.
- Open the Time range drop-down menu and select Everything > select Cookies and Cache.
- Click Clear Now.
- Close all Mozilla Firefox browser windows, and then attempt to join the meeting.
Can't attend or host a Webex meeting on my PC
This is typically caused by PC-related restrictions. Try enabling your system to manually push Webex Meetings and Productivity tools to the your desktop:
- On your desktop, select Settings > Downloads.
- Select the Manually push Cisco WebEx Meetings and Productivity Tools to user's desktop option.
How do I cancel a Webex Meeting?
You can cancel one-time meetings or recurring meetings:
- Open the Meeting Invite you want to cancel.
- (For recurring meetings only) Click Series to ensure that you're cancelling all occurrences.
- Click Cancel on the invite.
- On the main Invite page, click the Cancel Webex Meeting Plugin (to remove the Webex information from the Invite).
- Click Send Meeting Cancellation (to completely cancel the Webex details and the Meeting).
Getting dropped from Webex meetings
If you are often getting dropped from Webex meetings, try the following:
- Ensure your wi-fi connection is working and there are no outages or delays in connectivity.
- Use an Ethernet cable to connect to your modem or router.
- Close any other applications that could be using your internet bandwidth (e.g. email or web browsers).
- Join the meeting by phone.
Slow connection
Your Webex experience can be slowed by the speed of your Internet connection, internet traffic between you and Webex server, firewall and proxy servers that uses, and even images that are being shared.
- Select a faster network connection
- Stop all streaming and downloading and minimize the number of images that you're sharing.
Meeting status is incorrect
If, after joining a meeting, the Start button continues to display, you can ignore it. This is a known issue that will not impact the quality of your meeting.
What countries can I join a Webex meeting from?
If there is Voice over IP (VoIP) and your device is connected to the internet, you can join a meeting from any country.
You can dial, toll into any of these countries: Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Dominican Republic, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, India, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Panama, Poland, Russia, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
