Forgot Okta username

If you forgot your Okta username:

  1. Check the activation email that was sent to you when your Okta account was created.
  2. If the email has been erased or cannot be found, contact IT to recover your username.

Can’t log into Okta

If you can’t log into Okta, try the following solutions in the order provided. After trying each, check to see if the issue is resolved.

  1. Check caps lock and ensure you’re using the right username and password combination. (If your work and Okta account usernames differ, ensure you are using the right one.)
  2. Reset your password.
  3. (Devices only) Remove the app, download the latest version from Google Play or the App Store, and restart your device.
  4. (If you can’t sign in at all) Reset your Okta Verify enrollment as follows:
    1. Open the original email that you received to enroll in Okta and click Activate Okta Account > Request a new Token and follow the prompts to sign up again.
    2. Re-enroll your device into Okta.

Okta Verify push authentication doesn’t work or is slow

Try the following to troubleshoot push authentication:

  1. Ensure your network or mobile data connection is stable.
  2. Check your device settings to ensure that push notifications for Okta Verify are enabled.
  3. Check that your device's Date and Time setting is set to Network or Automatic.
  4. Reboot your device by powering off completely and then powering back on.
  5. Ensure your device is not jailbroken, does not have a custom security layer or Mobile Device Management (MDM) profile, and that other applications are not interfering with notifications.
  6. As a workaround, use the 6-digit token displayed on your Okta Verify app instead.

Account is not displaying on Okta Verify

If your account doesn’t display in Okta Verify, try the following:

  1. Uninstall the app from your device.
  2. Reinstall Okta Verify on your device.
  3. On your computer, reset Okta Verify from your Okta account to link it to your device.
