How do you set up Duo MFA on a mobile device?
To set up Duo MFA using a landline or hardware token, begin with the first two steps, then follow the online prompts (you don't need to complete Steps 3 through 6).
- (On your computer) Click the enrollment link in the email that you received. The Setup screen displays.
- Click Start Setup and follow the in-screen prompts.
- (On your mobile device) Download the Duo Mobile app and follow the in-screen prompts to install it.
- Scan the barcode that displays on the computer screen and click Continue.
- (Optional) Update your Device Options, or add another device by clicking Add Another Device.
- (Optional) Give it a try: Click Send Me a Push on your computer, then tap Approve on your mobile device.
How do I use Duo to authenticate a phone?
To authenticate a mobile phone or landline through a call:
- In the Choose an Authentication Method screen, click Call Me. (If you don't see that screen, type PHONE into the "second password" field.) Duo calls your phone.
Note: The status bar at the bottom of the window updates at each step. - Answer the call and listen to the instructions to authenticate. The status bar indicates how to approve the request over the phone.
How do I use Duo to authenticate with any cell phone (SMS Passcode)?
To authenticate using a passcode that is texted to your phone, complete the following steps.
- In the Choose an Authentication Method screen, click Enter a Passcode > Text Me New Codes.
Note: The status bar at the bottom of the window indicates that passcodes were sent to your phone. You might receive multiple codes, in case of limited cell service. - To authenticate, click Enter a Passcode, type in a passcode you received via text message, and click Log In.
Note: Whenever you request a new batch of passcodes, delete the previous text message to ensure you use the latest.
