What do I do if I get hurt at work?
If it's an emergency, call 911 or go to an emergency room right away. Tell medical staff your injury or illness is job-related. If safe to do so, contact your employer. If it is not an emergency, inform your supervisor as soon as possible. Failure to notify within 30 days could affect your workers' compensation eligibility.
What should I do if my work visa is expiring?
If your work visa is expiring, you will need to file a request for extension before your visa expires. For assistance, contact <Email for legal> as soon as possible.
How do I request a green card sponsorship?
To request a green card sponsorship, you must meet the following conditions:
- Employee must have worked at least 90 days in their current position.
- Employee must currently hold H-1B or L-1 visa status.
- Employee must consistently meet or exceed performance expectations.
Can the company sponsor my spouse or children?
Unfortunately, we cannot directly petition for employees' spouses or children. However, your spouse and children may apply for immigrant visas at the same time you when you reach the front of the line.
How do I report harassment or discrimination?
Employees must report incidents as soon as possible after they occur. Promptly notify your supervisor, manager, or human resources <Email for HR>. If your immediate supervisor is involved in the incident, report the incident to the office manager <Email for office management>. There will be no retaliation for filing a harassment or discrimination claim.
How do I request access to data containing PII (Personally Identifiable Information)?
If your work requires access to data containing PII, you must contact <Email for data governance>. Be prepared to explain why you need this data, and make sure to adhere to data governance protocols.
What are my options if I'm unable to work due to COVID-19?
Under the FFCRA, you are eligible for up to 2 weeks of paid sick leave at your regular rate of pay if either of the following apply:
- You are unable to work due to COVID-19 symptoms.
- You have been ordered to self-quarantine by a healthcare provider or federal or state mandate, and are unable to work.
What are my options if I need to care for family members sick with COVID?
Under the FFCRA, you are eligible for 2 weeks of paid sick leave at 2/3 your regular rate of pay to care for family if the following apply:
- You are unable to work because you are caring for an individual under quarantine.
- You are unable to work because you are caring for a child whose school or childcare provider is closed due to COVID-19.
Can I claim tax relief for work-from-home expenses?
Unfortunately, under current US tax-income law, employee home office expenses cannot be deducted from taxes. Only self-employed people may currently deduct home office expenses.
