How to Configure Sharepoint Knowledge Ingestion [Classic]

Sharepoint Knowledge ingestion allows you to ingest the site content from your Sharepoint pages.

Pre-Requisites

  • Please ensure the required Simpplr One Connector has been created with the necessary permissions. Please refer the Simpplr One Access Requirements Doc for details.

Configuration

Knowledge Ingestion Configuration

Start by creating a new Ingestion under Search > Configure Search > Classic Ingestion > Internal Knowledge

  • First, select the Simpplr One Connector created for the ingestion and then provide a name for the ingestion. under Ingestion Name.
  • Then, choose a Domain. The domain is the functional areas of employee service that is most related to the knowledge being ingested for this configuration.
  • Next, select Simpplr One Config from the Select your system dropdown
  • Last, input all of the site names from Simpplr to crawl under Site Name
    • If you want to configure the ingestion of all Sites, you can add a single empty list under this config instead of mentioning individual Site names.

Permission Configuration

Create a new permission configuration under Core Platform > Resource Permissions > Permission Rules and set the following values

  • Strategy Config: Public to all members of the organization / ABAC (Note: Only Public and ABAC rule based permissions are supported for Simpplr One)
    • Select Public to all members of the organization to give all users unrestricted access to the ingested Simpplr One content.
    • Select ABAC for more granular rule based access to the ingested Simpplr One content
      • Additional configs required for ABAC:
        • Abac Config Resource Rule Resource Rule (only applicable if ABAC is selected): KB Rule
        • KB Rule(only applicable if ABAC is selected):
          • Please review available DSL Syntax to generate a more granular rule. The conditional access rule can reference knowledge article properties in the Doc Source data object and properties from the user object.
  • Integration ID: simpplr_one (select the Simpplr One connector you have created)
  • Resource Type: kb
  • Action: ACTION_VIEW

Validation

  • Once you have submitted the Knowledge ingestion configuration and the Permission Rules, please contact your Customer Success team to kick off the Ingestion pipeline in the background, the status of the same can be tracked on the Indexed Content View
  • You can search for the Articles with their Title’s here, and if they are listing on the Console that means they have been ingested successfully.
